Amazing Ice Facial Benefits

My friend Lauryn Bosstick, host of The Skinny Confidential, is guest posting today! She’s an expert on skincare routines and a big fan of ice facials (the topic of her post today). Today she’s sharing her tips for glowing skin!

It’s such a pleasure to be guest posting on Wellness Mama today. From the blog to the Wellnesse product line to Katie herself, I’ve been a big fan for years. Katie was on the HIM & HER Show a few years ago talking about how to optimize all areas of your life, running a business, parenting, and more. She’s been an incredible go-to for health and wellness topics for a while now.

My Story

Anyway, today I’m here to talk about the benefits of ice on your face. My name is Lauryn Bosstick and I’m the creator, founder, author, and podcast co-host behind The Skinny Confidential.

A few years ago we launched a product line with pink, preventative beauty tools that you can seamlessly fit into your daily routines. The very first product we launched was The Skinny Confidential Ice Roller and to this day, it’s one of our bestsellers.

It all started when I had double jaw surgery and went through a horrific healing process. The recovery time was double what I thought it would be and left me swollen, looking like Sloth from The Goonies, and with a bit of an identity crisis if I’m being honest. When I say I tried everything under the sun to speed up the healing and decrease the swelling, I mean EVERYTHING.

The thing I found that worked best was ice rolling. I would buy these cheap little ice rollers off Amazon one after the other. Why? Because they broke and wouldn’t stay cold for very long at all.

Ice rolling worked for me. Facial icing immediately brought down the bloating, and redness, and felt so good. Through moderate massage too, it helped drain my lymph nodes, de-puffing, and helping me get my jawline back.

Fast forward a few years and the team and I launched our very own ice roller, but like, the Rolls Royce of ice rollers. Think big silicone handle, aluminum roller that stays cold for ages, a thumbprint for ultimate control, and something that would last, not break after a couple of weeks. Plus, like all TSC skincare products, it’s pretty, pink and you want it displayed on your vanity.

So, with that, let’s get into the benefits of skin icing and cold temperatures on your face.

Ice Facial Benefits For Your Face

Reduces Inflammation and Puffiness

Ice is a natural anti-inflammatory that reduces swelling, and helps skin conditions. So, slap some ice on your face and say goodbye to the angry redness of your pimples, rashes, blemishes, and/or irritations.

Minimizes the Appearance of Pores

We all want to look like we have baby-smooth skin. Ice can help minimize the appearance of pores by constricting blood vessels and locking in the products you use. So, put some ice on your face to get one step closer to a super smooth complexion.

Soothes and Calms Sensitive Skin

If you have sensitive skin, ice facials are a great way to soothe and calm it by reducing redness, inflammation, and swelling. It’s also an excellent way to keep breakouts at bay for those with eczema or rosacea, which enhances blood circulation and skin health.

Plus, it’s been said that using ice therapy twice a day, for 20 minutes over 6 weeks can increase your skin’s thickness by up to 32%. Rubbing ice on your face helps enhance blood circulation, which supports skin health and helps reverse the aging process.

Helps Makeup Last Longer

Ice helps keep the skin fresh and acts as a moisturizer, which is a great help to prime your skin cells for applying makeup. This allows for a better application of the product, and better application means your makeup will last longer.

Reduces the Look of Undereye Bags

Applying ice to the undereye area can help reduce puffiness and dark circles, giving the appearance of fewer eye bags. Get ready to reduce puffy eyes and look like you had a full 8 hours of sleep, even if you only had 5.

Gives an Instant Facelift

Who needs a facelift when you have ice? Ice can give an instant facelift by tightening and firming the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Much better than spending money at the dermatologist on things like retinol and peels with potential unwanted side effects. So, forget about spending thousands of dollars on plastic surgery and grab some ice instead.

HOW TO USE THE SKINNY CONFIDENTIAL ICE ROLLER FOR AN ICE FACIAL:

  • Store your roller in the fridge or freezer, depending on your preference.
  • If opting for the freezer, roll it on your wrist approximately 8 times before using it on your face (we want to make sure it’s not too cold).
  • Get rolling in an upward and outward direction on your face, then down the sides of your neck to drain the lymph.
  • Repeat as often as you’d like.

Personally, I ice roll the second I wake up. Well almost. I tongue scrape with the Wellnesse copper tongue scraper first, THEN I ice roll. I also do it before my skincare and makeup routine.

HOT TIPS FOR YOUR ICE ROLLER:

  • When traveling, use a hotel ice bucket to keep your roller cold (the wine bucket at the beach club works well too LOL).
  • Store your roller in our Sleeping Bag to keep it free from bacteria and your freezer’s frozen peas.
  • Ice roll your sore muscles after a tough workout, too.
  • To clean your roller grab a neutral cleanser and a soft damp cloth. Lather up and wipe it down. Let it air dry on your counter.

And if you’re not into getting a roller just grab an ice cube and get to work on your face. You can also fill a bowl with water and ice and give your face a chilly ice bath with ice water. It all works.

Try Ice Facial Benefits For Yourself!

Hope this post gets you interested in cold therapy for your face if you’re not into it already. Be sure to listen to Katie’s episode on the HIM & HER Show and check out her guest post on The Skinny Confidential.
